Travis review:

After reading several long, character intensive stories, today’s tale is a bit of a letdown. I was happy with the low word count as I read this in a few minutes. Unfortunately not much happens. A 16 year old girl, still feeling the effects from a powerful performance of the opera Yevgeny Onyegin, decides to pen a letter to one of her suitors. Her brain and emotions bounce around in several directions. Overall, it is a quick portrait of a girl trying to make sense of love in the adult world under the influence of a passionate performance. Unfortunately, the story led me to shrug. This is one of the few forgettable Chekhov shorts compared to his long list of unforgettable ones.
